Abstract

The objective of this study was to prove that the relationship between students anxiety and the descriptive writing skill. The methods that were used is quantitative. The population of this study were the eight grade students of SMPN 263 Jakarta. There were 120 students but the writer concludes to choose one class randomly as a sample of the research, that is VIII2 class consists of 31 students. There were two instruments to collect the data: the first instrument was questioner to measure students anxiety, the second instrument is writing test task to measure the descriptive writing skill.
The research finding showed ro is higher than rt (0.543 > 0.349) it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Hi is accepted. It means that there is a relationship between students’ anxiety ad the descriptive writing skills. After that it can be continued to analyze t significant analysis, the result is to is higher than tt (3.40 > 1.70) it means that Ho is rejected and Hi accepted. It can be concluded there is a significant relationship between students’ anxiety and the descriptive writing skill at the eight grade on the second semester of SMPN 263 Jakarta in the 2019/2020 Academic Year.
