Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of moral reasoning and
retaliation on their propensity to blow the whistle (PBW). Researcher also
observed and examined empirically the effects of negative emotion (guilt and
shame) on their propensity to blow the whistle (PBW).
The respondents in this study using purposive sampling technique. This study used
a survey method using a questionnaire. The questionnaire were distributed to 56
internal auditors who worked on State University located in Yogyakarta. All
questionnaire were analyzed using multiple regression.
There are four hypotheses proposed in this study. This study provides empirical
evidence that moral reasoning, retaliation and guilt effected the propensity to
blow the whistle. This study was not found a significant effect between shame and
propensity to blow the whistle
