Abstract. The main purpose of this study was to compare and examine the effectiveness of problem-posing and think- pair-share cooperatives' learning models on mathematical problem-solving skills and mathematical communication skills. This study was experimental research with a quasi-experimental design. The samples of the study were 41 students for classroom experiments and 40 students for classroom control. The instruments employed in this study were pre-test and post-test. The instruments were made in essay forms which design to measure students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. The result of the study showed that problem-posing and think-pair-share are very effective to improve students’ mathematical achievements. However, between the problem-posing and think-pair-share, the think- pair-share is more effective than problem-posing, view from the standards of mathematical problem-solving skills and mathematical communication skills of Junior High School students.

The study aimed to know the communication management pattern of interpersonal communication activities among vagrants and other communities. The study made use of qualitative research intended to get complete description of interpersonal communication phenomena that occurred among vagrants and other communities. The research relied on observation and in-depth interviews with ten vagrants which were spread in some places in Jakarta, Depok, Tangerang Selatan, Tangerang, Bogor, and Bekasi. The collected data were analyzed using Johari Window theory to explain which frame underlay how vagrants conducted interpersonal and intrapersonal communication. The result showed that vagrants did their communication activities by dividing themselves into open and close areas. The other communication behavior was done through mechanism management of impression which was made to manage and organize how to behave in interpersonal communication and relation with others as a form of adaptation and an effort to keep harmony in social interaction and communication. It can be concluded that the vagrants are part of the social system and structure of the community that has traditions and culture that need to be respected and appreciated.

The purpose of this research is to test the student’s learning achievement in class VIII SMPN 1 Bayongbong by
using interactional education communication strategy in learning Indonesia Language by using “cooperative
learning (CL)” model which is done by the teacher in class. “Cooperative learning” model is a learning model
which emphasizes that every learning process, students are active in build their knowledge (student-centered).
This research is using positivism paradigm with the quantitative approach as a method to measure how far the
impact of the independent variable to dependent variable. This research takes two classes as a sample. One class
as an experiment class consists of 36 students who are using the cooperative model in the teaching-learning
process, and the other class consists of 34 students as a control class which is using conventional method.
The experiment result shows that learning communication strategy by using cooperative learning model has
significantly influenced the student’s learning achievement. This thing is supported by the data that shows
student’s achievement in learning Indonesia Language is better than the student’s achievement which is using
conventional learning communication strategy. The contribution of this research is to provide information to
educators about better strategies in learning the Indonesian Language for students.

the aspects of content, instruction, appearance, and programming, (3) revealing the aspect of attraction of the
developed instructional multimedia, and (4) revealing the learning mastery of the students after using the
developed multimedia. This study was developmental research. The research validators included one expert in
English education and one expert in instructional multimedia. The research subjects consisted of three students
for the one-to-one try-out and twenty students for the large group try-out. The instruments employed in this
study were a questionnaire, observation guide, and pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using
descriptive statistics. The findings of the study are: (1) the development of English vocabulary instructional
multimedia in year-five of the elementary school proceeded in six steps, namely, analyzing, designing,
producing, validating, revising, and trying-out; (2) the quality of the developed instructional multimedia viewed
from the aspect of content, instructional, appearance, and programming is good. The score range of 1 to 5, the
content aspect shows a mean score of 3.75, the instructional aspect shows a mean score of 3.71, the appearance
aspect shows a mean score of 3.87, and the aspect of programming shows a mean score of 3.75; (3) the aspect
of attractiveness shows that the developed instructional multimedia was very interesting: in the one-to-one
tryout, of the three students observed, two students indicated that the product attraction was very interesting,
and one student indicated that the product attraction was interesting; in the large group try-out, of the twenty
students observed, twelve students indicated that the product was very interesting, and eight students indicated
that the product was interesting; and (4) learning by using instructional multimedia has good impact on
students’ mastery learning: in the large group try-out, out of twenty students, nineteen students (95%) have
accomplished mastery learning in the English vocabulary instruction.

In this paper, we describe a prototype of web-based intelligent handwriting education
system for autonomous learning of Bengali characters. Bengali language is used by more than
211 million people of India and Bangladesh. Due to the socio-economical limitation, all of the
population does not have the chance to go to school. This research project was aimed to develop
an intelligent Bengali handwriting education system. As an intelligent tutor, the system can
automatically check the handwriting errors, such as stroke production errors, stroke sequence
errors, stroke relationship errors and immediately provide a feedback to the students to correct
themselves. Our proposed system can be accessed from smartphone or iPhone that allows
students to do practice their Bengali handwriting at anytime and anywhere. Bengali is a
multi-stroke input characters with extremely long cursive shaped where it has stroke order
variability and stroke direction variability. Due to this structural limitation, recognition speed is
a crucial issue to apply traditional online handwriting recognition algorithm for Bengali
language learning. In this work, we have adopted hierarchical recognition approach to improve
the recognition speed that makes our system adaptable for web-based language learning. We
applied writing speed free recognition methodology together with hierarchical recognition
algorithm. It ensured the learning of all aged population, especially for children and older
national. The experimental results showed that our proposed hierarchical recognition algorithm
can provide higher accuracy than traditional multi-stroke recognition algorithm with more
writing variability.
According to Krashen's affective filter hypothesis, students who are highly motivated
have a strong sense of self, enter a learning context with a low level of anxiety, and are much
more likely to become successful language acquirers than those who do not. Affective factors,
such as motivation, attitude, and anxiety, have a direct impact on foreign language acquisition.
Horwitz et al. (1986) mentioned that many language learners feel anxious when learning foreign
languages. Thus, this study recruits 100 college students to fill out the Foreign Language
Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) to investigate language learning anxiety. Then, this study
designs and develops an affective tutoring system (ATS) to conduct an empirical study. The
study aims to improve students’ learning interest by recognizing their emotional states during
their learning processes and provide adequate feedback. It is expected to enhance learners'
motivation and interest via affective instructional design and then improve their learning
performance.
A wise man said that "you will never be a pious when you never feel loneliness", because loneliness can be used as an indicator of someone's level of piety. In loneliness, the awareness of God’s existence can be felt, because in loneliness a person will not be affected by motives that come from the encouragement or motivation of the other persons’ prensence. Meanwhile someone’s piety which is shown in the public, according to the author it is very difficult to assess the real of sincerity. There are thousands motives when someone do observance in the middle of the social communities. This research used a qualitative research method with phenomenological research tradition, in the terms of Lindlof (1995:27) it is called as an interpretive paradigm which is refered to the communication research with qualitative methods that perform the tradition of phenomenology, ethnometodology, symbolic interaction, ethnography and cultural studies.
This research aims to identify the self construction and communicating acts amongst the homeless while they are doing their daily activities as a vagrant in downtown Jakarta. The method being used for this research is a qualitative method with phenomenologist paradigm which aims to understand human behaviors from an experimental perspective. Result shows that vagrants, especially those who has the same profession, tend to share the area of work in order to avoid conflicts among them. Description from the subject in establishing communication with other vagrants are done by sharing area of expertise from himself and other vagrants. Results also showed that almost all the subjects tend to close their “darker” side from others who don’t know that they are vagrants by impression management. These people came into existence not only because of a poor culture which shows nomadic type of living habit, but it’s also because of the structure and vast majority which sees them with a negative stigma for every type of occupation they choose including a forced action because they were left without any choices other being a vagrant.
