Diare dapat disebabkan oleh bakteri Staphylococcus auerus dan Escherichia coli. Secara empiris tanaman Psidium guajava digunakan untuk mengobati diare. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengumpulkan informasi mengenai perkembangan dari tanaman Psidium guajava sebagai antibakteri serta kandungan senyawa kimia yang terkandung di dalam tanaman Psidium guajava berdasarkan metode narrative review. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode narrative review. Dari hasil narrative review dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak tanaman Psidium guajava memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Aktivitas antibakteri yang paling besar terdapat pada batang jambu biji dengan pelarut metanol menghasilkan diameter zona hambat sebesar 20 mm dan 22,5 mm pada konsentrasi 50 µl. Aktivitas antibakterinya dikaitkan dengan adanya kandungan metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, fenol, tanin, saponin, alkaloid, dan terpenoid.
