TERHADAP PENGHAMBATAN PEMBENTUKAN BIOFILM Pseudomonas aeruginosa ispublished: pub subjects: R subjects: RS divisions: 48201 abstract: Pseudomonas aeruginosa merupakan bakteri patogen Gram-negatif yang berperan penting sebagai penyebab infeksi pada pasien luka bakar. Infeksi luka bakar yang disebabkan oleh Pseudomonas aeruginosa memiliki karakteristik warna kuning/hijau, berbau busuk, dan berlendir. Lapisan berlendir pada permukaan luka bakar merupakan bentuk biofilm. Biofilm memberikan perlindungan pada sel terhadap mekanisme pertahanan inang, fagositosis, dan pengobatan antibiotik. Biji pinang mengandung senyawa flavonoid dan tanin yang memiliki aktivitas menghambat pembentukan biofilm P.aeruginosa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas ekstrak etanol 70% biji pinang (Areca catechu L.) terhadap penghambatan pembentukan biofilm P.aeruginosa, menggunakan metode microtitter plate assay, dan diwarnai dengan krisrtal violet 0,1%. Pengukuran ditunjukan dari nilai absorbansi kristal violet yang diukur menggunakan microplate reader pada panjang gelombang 595 nm. Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol biji pinang (Areca catechu L.) mempunyai aktivitas penghambatan pembentukan biofilm Pseudomonas aeruginosa dengan nilai IC50 412,8573 µg/ml dan potensi relatif sebesar 0,2565 kali silver sulfadiazin.
