%X This research aims to explore further the economic history of Sriwijaya Kingdom in
the VII-XIII century. This research method uses historical research approach with
steps: (1) Heuristic; (2) Critic; (3) Interpretation; (4) Historiography. The results
showed that Sriwijaya was a maritime kingdom that had close relations with India
and China in trade. At that time the famous commodities were spices, forest products,
foodstuffs, and workers or slaves. This is what makes Sriwijaya Kingdom famous as the
international economy center.
